Clara C. Berreth, 92, of Towle
Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at
9:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, in Saint Joseph Community Hospital,
Mishawaka. Clara was born Sept. 19, 1908, in Mishawaka, to the
late Joseph and Mary (Kline) Weber.
In 1925, in Montana, Clara married Henry
Berreth. They moved to Mishawaka in 1925. Henry preceded her in
death on March 18, 1968. Clara was also preceded in death by two
grandsons, Christopher and Richard Berreth; three sisters, Martha
Kline, Angela Myers and Mary Vergon; four brothers,
Stephen, Francis, Claudus and John J. Weber; and by two sons,
Joseph Berreth in 1998 and Michael Berreth in 1994. Clara is
survived by two daughters, Joyce (Thomas) Weirich of
Mishawaka and Judy (William) Martin of South Bend; a son,
Lawrence (Anelia) Berreth of Mishawaka; and by 13 grandchildren,
five step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-
great-grandchildren.
Clara was a member of St. Joseph Parish in
Mishawaka, the church's Rosary Society and the St. Joseph School
Home and School Association. She retired from School City of
Mishawaka, spending most of her years at Mishawaka High School as
a cook. She spent numerous summers as a cook for the Boy Scout
Camp. During her life, Clara had a special devotion to the
Blessed Virgin Mary.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral
Home, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. A
funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2,
in St. Joseph Church, with Fr. Robert A. Yast officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made in Clara's name
to St. Joseph Church or to the school.
