Martha Jane Berger, 68, of 5371 County Road 352, Keystone Heights, Fla., died on Saturday, July 17, 1999 in her residence. She was born on Feb. 10, 1931, in Elkhart, Ind. and was the daughter of Richard K. and Florence (Blair) Virgil. Moving from Granger, Ind., she and her husband had lived the past 40 years in Florida.
She was employed for 24 years at the Duval County School Board as an accountant. She was a 1948 graduate and valedictorian of Washington Clay High School and received her associate degree from Florida Community College of Jacksonville. She was a member of the Keystone United Methodist Church and the Woman's Club of Keystone Heights.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Robert Berger; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzan and William Schnippert of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Melanie Berger of Clearwater, Fla.; and by three grandchildren, Matthew Schnippert and Meghan and Amanda Berger.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkhart Community Hospice.
