Cora Belle Berger, 84, of Grandview Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, in Saint Joseph's Care West Nursing Center. Mrs. Berger was born on Jan. 20, 1919, in Argos, Ind., and was a lifetime resident of the Michiana area.

On Oct. 30, 1943, in Argos, as Cora Belle Pontious, she married Homer D. Berger, who preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 1992. Cora is survived by a daughter, Sue S. (Douglas) Beach of South Bend; two grandchildren, Douglas D. Beach of South Bend and Kimberly S. O'Connor of Bristol, Ind.; and by three great-grandchildren, Brian D. Beach and Paige A. Beach, both of South Bend, and Macey Nicole O'Connor of Bristol.

Mrs. Berger was a homemaker and a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and wife. Her family was always first. She loved her family and cherished her grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 16, in the Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to the charity of donor's choice.
