Richard "Dick" Bennitt, 68,
of Roseland, passed away Friday, October 25, 2002, after a brief
illness in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Bennitt was born on
July 15, 1934, in Berrien County, MI, to the late Charles and
Iola (Adnson) Bennitt. As a young child he moved to New
Carlisle, IN, and lived there until 1978.
On September 5, 1953, he married Patsy Vermillion,
who survives. His family includes wife, Patsy; son, Michael
Bennitt and his wife, Sandy of Granger; daughters, Susan Bush
and her husband, Jim of Granger, and Tamara Mobley and her
husband, Jon of Chaska, MN. Grandchildren include Ty Zelasko and
his wife, Becky of Springfield, IL, Brandy Zelasko and
Jake Anfang of Chanhassen, MN, Matthew Bennitt and his
fiancée, Kate Robertson of South Bend, Bryan Bush, who is
currently serving in the United States Marine Corps, and Mark
Bennitt of Granger. He also has one great-grandchild, Indy
Zelasko of Springfield, IL, and a sister, Elsie Pinckert of
South Bend. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a
brother, Charles James Bennitt. Mr. Bennitt opened Bennitt's
Family Restaurant in Roseland and, along with his wife, son and
daughter-in-law (Mike and Sandy), operated it for 30 years.
There will be no service. Cremation has
taken place. Kaniewski Funeral Homes is in charge of
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for
Humanity.
