Harry T. Bennitt

     Service for Harry T. Bennitt, 89, of New Carlisle,  who died at 11:40
a.m. Tuesday at the Anderson Sanitarium, LaPorte, after a  six-week illness,
will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Olive Chapel Church of  Christ. Dr. Ernest
Geist will officiate and burial will be in Olive Chapel  Cemetery. Friends may
call after noon Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday at the  Haverstock Funeral
Chapel, LaPorte, and from noon until services at the  church.
     Mr. Bennitt was born Nov. 14, 1883, in Wills Twp.  LaPorte County, and
lived all his life in this area. He was married Feb. 11,  1906, to Fannie May
Halter, who died Dec. 24, 1954. On April 14, 1956, in New  Carlisle he was
married to Elva Rogers, who survives. Also surviving are two  sons, Furmon of
Coloma, Ill., and Harry of Angola; a daughter, Mrs. Carl Johnson  of LaPorte; a
stepson, Clark Rogers of New Carlisle, seven grandchildren and 12 
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence of Tamp Springs, Fla. Mr. Bennitt  was a
member of the Olive Chapel Church and was retired from the Oliver Corp. of  South
Bend.
