SOUTH BEND - William H. Bennett, 74, of Manchester Drive, died at 5 a.m. today in his home after an illness. Mr. Bennett was employed by Studebaker Corp. for 22 years and retired in 1985 as the greenskeeper at Playland Golf Course. He was born April 6, 1920, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
On Sept. 20, 1947, in South Bend, he married Geraldine Moss. She survives, with a daughter, Cindi Mark of South Bend; two sons, Bill Jr. of South Bend and Tim of Mishawaka; two grandsons; and a brother, Jack of Mishawaka. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Moose Lodge 58, Mishawaka Eagles Lodge 2083, and St. Matthew Cathedral.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the cathedral. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., where a parish rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
