Harriet M. Harley Bennett, 72, of
Grand Boulevard, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at
10:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, in Memorial Hospital, South
Bend, Ind. Mrs. Bennett was born on Dec. 8, 1927, in Elkhart
County, Ind., as the daughter of the late George W. and Bernice
V. (Risser) Clawson.
On. Nov. 15, 1984, in Mishawaka, as the
former Harriet Clawson, she married Jack Bennett, who preceded
her in death on July 18, 1996. She was also preceded in death by
a sister, Elizabeth Clawson on Jan. 28, 1994; and by a brother,
Edward Clawson on Aug. 3, 1999. Mrs. Bennett leaves to cherish
her memories a daughter, Jill (Randy) Lindley of
Mishawaka; a stepdaughter, Sandra Zakrocki of South Bend;
two sons, Frank (Debra) Harley of Jenison, Mich., and
Michael (Myna) Harley of Tampa, Fla.; and two stepsons, Stephen
(Trixie) Bennett of El Cajon, Calif., and Charles (Sharon)
Bennett of Lansing, Mich.; 17 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bennett was the registrar for the St.
Joseph County Health Department for 28 years, and was the head
registrar for 10 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic
Church.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today,
Aug. 15, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street,
Mishawaka. Services will be at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 16, in St.
Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial
will follow at the Mausoleum of Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens,
Osceola, Ind. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Bennett may be made
to the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison, Unit #6,
Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
