June 28, 1931 - Aug. 3, 2010MISHAWAKA - Dorothy M. Bennett, 79, of Mishawaka, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Hospice House in South Bend with her loving family at her bedside. Dorothy was born on June 28, 1931, in LaPorte, IN, to the late Joseph R. and Dollie Mae (Flagg) Holloway. As the former Dorothy Holloway, she married James P. Bennett on September 17, 1949, in South Bend, IN. James and Dorothy shared 60 wonderful years of marriage together. Her husband James and their three children, James A. Bennett of Crestwood, KY, Linda R. Scherzinger of Indianapolis, IN, and Susan D. Hess of Greenwich, CT, survive Dorothy. Dorothy was a loving and caring grandmother to six grandchildren, Scott, Andrew, Katie, Lexi, Christian and Sophia. Two brothers and a sister preceded Dorothy in death. Dorothy was a pre- school teacher at the Woodard Pre-School in South Bend. Dorothy was a member of the Evangel Heights United Methodist Church in South Bend. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family which she cherished most of all. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2010, with one hour visitation prior to the service, with the Rev. Dr. Patrick Somers officiating at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, IN. Private entombment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
