Mrs. Lena Benedict

April 19, 1891 – April 23, 1976

Mrs. Lena Benedict, 85, of 220 W. Grove, died at 1:30am today in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.  She had been ill since last November.

Born on April 19, 1891, in Elwood IN, she came to Mishawaka from Elwood in 1970.  As Lena High, she married Ira M. Benedict in Elwood on May 26, 1912.  He died in 1971.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Hiatt, with whom she lived, and Mrs. Martha Jane Abalona of Fairfield CA; a son, Cedric Benedict of Winchester IN; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Shinn of Lake Webster IN, and three brothers, Robert, Raymond and Charles High, all of Elwood.

Friends may call from to 9pm Saturday in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, then from 7 to 9pm Sunday in the Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, where services will be at 1:30pm Monday.  Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery.
