MISHAWAKA - Margret O. Bender, 83, of Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, formerly of Birchwood Drive, died at 8:35 p.m. Monday in the nursing center. Mrs. Bender was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Daviess County, Ind., and had lived in this area since 1943, coming here from Chicago.
On April 16, 1942, in Chicago, she married Harry R. Bender. He died Nov. 13, 1987. She is survived by two sisters, Vella Humerickhouse of Oden, Ind., and Autumn Dowden of Sycamore, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bender was a member of First Christian Church, South Bend, Plus Ultra Class of the church, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 2.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church, South Bend. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, where the Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
