Virginia E. Beehler, 85, of Wakarusa,
died Wednesday at 8:52 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born March 24, 1920 in South Bend to
Millard T. Sr. and Cora (Klinkner) Battles. She
married Charles A. Beehler Jr. an Sept. 28, 1940 at the Zion
United Church parsonage. He died Nov. 23, 2004. She is survived
by two sons, Jim (Genie) Beehler of South Bend and Allan (Sherry)
Beehler of Wakarusa; one daughter, Pat (Paul) Hubbard of
Wakarusa; 10 grandchildre; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Ruby (Dale) Geyer of Bremen and Jeanette Martin of
Wakarusa; and one brother, Millard T. Battles Jr. of Kent, Wash.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Schlarb,
Evelyn Young and Erma Crowell.
She was a homemaker and a farmer, a
secretary for Madison Township School and Grissom Middle School,
a secretary for Weaver Electric and Heating and a volunteer for
20 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka
She was a member of the Zion United Church
of Christ in Wakarusa and a past officer of St. Joe Valley
Builders Auxiliary. She was a 4-H leader for many years and
helped the Lions Club events. She graduated from Madison High
School in 1938.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 65 to 8
today at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehert-Lienhart Funeral Home, Wakarusa.
Friends may also call for one hour prior to services at Zion
United Church of Christ, Wakarusa. The Rev. Dale Speckman of Zion
United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in
Rest Haven Cemetery, Madison Township. Memorial may be given to
Zion United Church of Christ.
