MISHAWAKA - John W. Beck, 41, died at home on Friday,
October 10, 2008, after a courageous battle with melanoma cancer.
John was born November 2, 1966, in Michigan City, Indiana, to
Elwood "Butch" and Sharon (Retseck) Beck. On
March 9, 1991, in Elkhart, he married Jody M. Stemes, who
survives along with his mother and stepfather, Sharon (Ron) Eslinger
of Elkhart, and his father and stepmother, Butch (Judy) Beck of
New Carlisle, IN; mother-in-law, Marilyn Gilman of South
Bend, IN; daughters and sons, Nichole Beck of Mishawaka, Justin
(Heather) Parker of South Bend, Tara (Casey) Dome
of South Bend, Bub Parker of Mishawaka and Stephaine Beck
of Mishawaka. John is also survived by his sisters and brothers,
Lori Lijewski of Columbia, SC, Jeffrey Beck of Yuma, AZ,
Dale (Janice) Beck of Warsaw, IN, Todd (Lisa) Beck of
Collinsville, IL, and Steve (Nina) Beck of Yuma, AZ, Scott
(Bonnie) Resetar of Michigan City, Brenda Barger of
Westville, Eddie Resetar of Lindenhurst, IL, Christine Covington
of Charlotte, NC, Jeni (John) Strieter of Rolling Prairie,
IN, Kristine (Jason) Ward of Greenwood, IN, Kevin Eslinger
of Carmel, IN; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Vicki) Gilman, Danny
Gilman, Dave (Beth) Gilman, Jeff (Tina) Gilman and Jeremy (Lori) Scott;
and grandmother, Evelyn Beck of Fresno, CA. Also surviving are
nine grandchildren, Payton, Maliyah, Alex, Rylee, Makenzie,
Katelynn, Samantha, Victoria and Vincent. There are many aunts,
uncles, nieces and nephews surviving as well as the family dog,
Buttercup. John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John
and Berneth Retseck, Elwood Beck, Harold Scott and Paul Gilman.
John was employed in sales for Michiana Insulation for 16 years.
He was a member of the Granger Community Church. He was also
actively involved in sports. But most of his time was devoted to
coaching and attending his children's sporting events. Never one
to miss a game, John was always present cheering on his children.
Friends may call on Monday, October 13, 2008, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka, where memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jason Miller will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. John's family would like to thank all of the friends, family and co-workers for all of their support over the past several months. Words will never be able to show how much it meant to all of us. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be made to Jody Beck (c/o Team John Beck).
