SOUTH BEND - Martha Ellen Beaty, 86, of 1615 Randolph St., died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday in her home afer an illness. Mrs. Beaty was born Nov. 9, 1907, in Lewis County, Mo., and moved to South Bend, in 1925, from Iowa.

On Oct. 9, 1925, in Washington, Iowa, as Martha Ellen Nicholson, she married Ralph R. Beaty. He died last Jan. 8. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Darr of Mishawaka; a son, Ralph R. of South Bend; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Derby of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, John Nicholson of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Robert Nicholson of Monett, Mo. She was a member of Ridgedale Presbyterian Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
