Thomas E. Beatty, 54, of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away following an illness at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, in his residence. He was born on Dec. 21, 1944 to Loyd and Loretta Beatty in South Bend, Ind. He was preceded in death by his father in 1990.

On Dec. 11, 1971, he married the former Carol J. Penn in South Bend. She survives. He is also survived by three sons, Terry A. Beatty of Wake Forest, N.C., Michael E. Beatty of Saraland, Ala., and Thomas E. Beatty, Jr. of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Austin T. Beatty of Saraland and Kyle T. Beatty of Mishawaka; two sisters, Sheri Greenhutt of Charleston, S.C. and Penny Kolesiak of South Bend; and by a brother, Jerry Beatty of South Bend. Mr. Beatty was a self employed Mechanic and the owner of Tom Beatty Sales for over 20 years, where he felt that his customers were his friends more than just clients. He was a loving father and husband to his family.

Tom was also a member of New Life Baptist Church of Osceola, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
