Ruth H. (Wakeman) Beatty, 96, of Walkerton, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, March 17, in Miller's Merry Manor in Walkerton. She was born on Jan. 15, 1903, in Union Mills to D.H. and Caddie (Linard) Wakeman.

On March 9, 1929, she married Elmer D. Beatty, Sr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, two sisters, two grandsons, one great-grandson, and by one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Isabel Albertsen of Walkerton; two stepsons, Howard S. Beatty of North Liberty and Elmer D. Beatty, Jr., of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; and by nine grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beatty was a member of the Door Village United Methodist Church and the LaPorte County Farm Bureau.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. (CST) on Monday, March 22, at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Union Mills. Pastor Michael Health will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. (CST) on Sunday and Monday at the Newhard Funeral Home in Westville, and at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of services on Monday.
