Brett Bays, 14, passed away on Saturday morning, Feb. 6, after an automobile accident. He was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on June 22, 1984, to John and Vivian Bays. He was a freshman at LaSalle High School in South Bend, Ind., and was a member of the National Guard-Explorer Post #2151 (Pathfinders).

He is survived by his parents, John and Vivian Bays; his sister, April Bays of South Bend. Brett's maternal grandparents are Thomas and Judi Hartgrove of South Bend; paternal grandparents are John and Joan Bays of South Bend; maternal great- grandmother, Beatrice Berndt of South Bend; and paternal great- grandmother, Emma Mathias of Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 2910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, with funeral services being held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Odene Wampler.
