MISHAWAKA -- Frederick Leroy Bayman, 83, died at 9 a.m. Monday, May 14, in his home.

He was born on October 26, 1923, in Mishawaka, to the late Jessie "JJ" and Louise (Schmalkuche) Bayman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernie and Dean.

On September 26, 1969, he married Melba Bechler, who preceded him in death on Feb. 2, 2003. He worked at Bendix in South Bend and retired in 1985. He belonged to the VFW, and enjoyed fishing and carpentry. A special thanks to all of his friends at the OC Caf. Survivors include two sons, Charlie Bayman of Mishawaka and Joey Bayman of South Bend.

Visitation was from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola. Graveside services followed at Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
