William Bauman

William "Bill" Bauman, 79, of Sebring, Fla., formerly of North Liberty, Ind., passed away at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Highlands Regional Medical Center, Sebring. On April 25, 1923, in South Bend, Ind., he was born to the late Robert and Elga (Norris) Bauman. He served his country during World War II with the United States Army. Mr. Bauman spent most of his life as a resident of North Liberty, working for the North Liberty Schools, and then as foreman at the service building of the South Bend Community Schools, retiring in 1983 after 25 years. Mr. Bauman was a member of the American Legion in North Liberty and St. John's Methodist Church in Sebring.
On March 5, 1946, in North Liberty, he married the former Ruth Bowers. In addition to his wife, Ruth of 56 years, survivors of Mr. Bauman include two daughters, Sheryl (A. James) Schaap of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Lynn Gay (Frank) Ginzer of DeMotte, Ind.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson; as well as one sister, Barbara (Carl) Zimmerle of North Liberty.
Memorial services for Mr. Bauman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, Ind. Rev. Timothy Stewart, pastor of North Liberty Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty.
