SOUTH BEND - Loretta H. Baughman, 74, passed away at 4:15
a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, in Southfield Village. Mrs.
Baughman was born on January 2, 1934, in Harrisonburg, VA, to the
late D. Stanley and Esther (Keim) Houser. On June
29, 1957, in North Liberty, she married Max D. Baughman, who
survives. Along with her husband, Max of 51 years, survivors
include one daughter, Sonja (Steve) Browning of Sagle,
Idaho; two grandchildren, Brock Browning and Madison Vigil;
four sisters, Ramona (Richard) Sive of Fort Wayne, Mary
(John) Hagen of South Bend, Annie (Duane) Tolle of
Columbus, OH, and Kathryn (Barry) Timm of Brownsburg, IN;
and two brothers, Keim (Sylvia) Houser of South Bend and David
(Wendy) Houser of Phoenix, AZ. Mrs. Baughman is also
survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and
great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric
Baughman, on May 20, 2003. Mrs. Baughman was a graduate of North
Liberty High School and Manchester College. She taught school in
Mt. Morris, IL, two years in Nigeria and also in California. Mrs.
Baughman was also in sales with Field Enterprises selling World
Book Encyclopedias door-to-door. She enjoyed this very much.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, 69531 Pine Road, North Liberty, IN. Pastor Steve Van Houten will officiate. Burial will be held at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty, at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday in the church. Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting the family with arrangements. Contributions in memory of Loretta H.
