Harry Batson

SOUTH BEND - Harry Batson, 70, of 50 EMS B4 LN, Leesburg, formerly of Linden Avenue, died at 1:35 a.m. today in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. Mr. Batson retired from O'Brien Corp. He was born July 26, 1923, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On March 15, 1944, in South Bend, he married Eleanor Lindsley. She survives, with two daughters, Catherine Smith of Indianapolis and Nancy Grocke of Leesburg; two sons, Harry A. of Leesburg and Bruce of South Bend; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Murphy of White House, Texas, and Dorothy Sampson of Edwardsburg; and two brothers, Carl of Elkhart and Jay of Indianapolis. A daughter, Mary Ellen Batson, and a son, Lawrence, preceded him in death. He was a veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart and Silver Star.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
