SOUTH BEND - Louis Batiz, 77, of South 32nd Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Louis was born on Jan. 27, 1920, in Leechburg, Pa., to Emery and Mary Batiz.
On Oct. 29, 1942, he married the former Doris E. Goetz in Leechburg, Pa. Doris preceded him in death on April 28, 1995. Louis is survived by two daughters, Glenda Moody of South Bend and Cheryl Leisenring of Zeeland, Mich.; two grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Wyrick of South Bend, Yolanda Pecze of South Bend and Margaret Chandler of Leechburg, Pa.;l and by two brothers, Andrew Batiz of Leechburg, Pa., and John Batiz of Mishawaka, Ind.
Louis retired from the Bendix Corporation. He was a member of Local No. 9 U.A.W., and Memorial Presbyterian Church, to which memorials may be made.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Service for Louis will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday in the Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836 Portage Avenue, South Bend, conducted by Rev. Steven Mullin, with burial at Riverview Cemetery.
