Mrs. Hannah Bates

       Mrs. Hannah Bates, age 86, a resident of this county for 71 years and wife of the late Calvin Bates, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George W. Bressler, of North Liberty, following an illness of nine weeks. 

       She was born in Canton, O., Jan 13, 1837, and came to this county when she was 15 years of age.  Surviving are four children: Mrs. Bressler and Mrs. Elmer Heim, both of North Liberty, and Mrs. Henry Eisenmenger and Samuel Bates, both of this city, 21 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the residence of Mrs. Bressler and at 2 o’clock at the Chruch of the Brethern in North Liberty.  Burial will be in Porter cemetery.
