MISHAWAKA - George Herbert Bassett,
75, of 58780 Elm Road, died at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday in Countryside
Place after an illness. Mr. Bassett retired in 1985 as the owner
of Mishawaka Sales & Service. He was born Aug. 13, 1918, in
Minocqua, Wis., and lived in Mishawaka for 40 years, coming from
Wisconsin.
On Feb. 11, 1942, in Pasadena, Calif., he
married Lucile M. Lund. She survives with a daughter,
Barbara Hennard of Cincinnati; a son, George E. of South
Bend; three grandchildren; five sisters, Jessie Hose of
DeVille, La., Alice Chase of Milwaukee, Winifred Geisler
of Blacklick, Ohio, Edna Pottratz of Rockford, Ill., and
Martha Kregci of Minocqua; and four brothers, Lester and
William, both of Minocqua, Robert of Ashland, Ohio, and Gerald of
Superior, Wis.
He was a veteran of World War II and a
member of Veterans of Foreign War Post 360, Experimental Aircraft
Association, Mishawaka Pilots Club, and Star 8 Square Dance Club.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Friday in Warner Funeral Home, Osceola. Memorial contributions
may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodland, or any
charity.
