Miss Ellen L. Bassett, 81, residing at St. Joseph Healthcare West, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:35 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. Ellen retired from Logan Industries, South Bend. She was born Sept. 26, 1915, in South Bend, to the late Arthur and Alice Bassett (Rerick). Ellen was a lifelong area resident.

She is survived by a sister, Louise Carlton of South Bend; one niece, Mary Troyer of Three Rivers, Mich.; and one nephew, Richard Carlton of South Bend.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2328 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Donald Francis will officiate. Private burial will take place at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Logan Industries
