Mrs. Ernestine Baskin, loving wife,
mother, grandmother and sister, 77, of South Falcon Street, of
South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, March 24, following
an extended illness. On June 27, 1921, in Kilmichael, Miss., she
was born to the union of Walter & Linie (Henson) Dorris,
who both preceded her in death. In 1942, she was united in holy
matrimony in Winona, Miss., to Robert L. Baskin, Sr., who
survives. Coming from Kilmichael, Miss., in 1951, she moved to
South Bend. She was a member of the Lake Street Primitive Baptist
Church. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her husband,
Robert L. Baskin, Sr.; two daughters, Louella (James) Gary
both of South Bend, Wanetta (Melvin) Reed of Flint, Mich.;
three sons, James (Wendy) Smith of St. Louis., Mo., Robert
(Frankie) Baskin, Jr. and Glenn Baskin, both of South Bend; 17
grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Gertrude Brownlee
of South Bend, Grace Sanders of Memphis, Tenn.; along with
a host of nieces, nephews and other friends. Her parents, two
sisters, and four brothers all preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on at 11 a.m.
on Monday at the Lake Street Primitive Baptist Church with
visitation occurring one hour prior to the services. Alford's
Mortuary is in charge of handling the arrangements.
