SOUTH BEND - Bette T. Bartz, 66, of Charles Avenue, died at 9:25 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Medical Center after an illness. Mrs. Bartz was a former employee of Robertson's Department Store. She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Mishawaka.

On July 15, 1961, in Mishawaka, as Bette T. Catanzarite, she married Norman A. Bartz. He died March 2, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Roxanne Moore of South Bend and Kelly Ellis of Mishawaka; two sons, Walt and Norman M., both of South Bend; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Patrick of Duluth, Minn., and Tony of Mishawaka.

She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Services will be at noon Friday in the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Kaniewski Funeral home, 3402 Lincoln Way W., where a parish vigil service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to cancer research fund of Riley Hospital for Children, Indianapolis.
