SOUTH BEND — Marie Bartkowiak, 99, of South Bend, died Wednesday in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Skarbek, Lorraine Pace and Patricia Cain, all of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Casimir Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a rosary will be said at 2 p.m.

Marie Bartkowiak, 99, South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Hospice House in South Bend. She was born on November 24, 1901, in South Bend, Ind., to Walter Jerzakowski and Frances Chmielewski.

On October 28, 1924 in South Bend she married Sylvester Bartkowiak, who preceded her in death on September 20, 1962. Surviving are three daughters, Lillian (Albert) Skarbek, Lorraine (Martin) Pace and Patricia Cain, all of South Bend. Fourteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Mitchel, Henry, Casimir, Edward and Joseph Jerzakowski. Also by two sisters, Lillian Kendziora and Harriet Leighty. Mrs. Bartkowiak was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and the St. Casimir Holy Rosary.

Friends and family may call at the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 South Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN, on Friday, June 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a Rosary at 2 p.m. Services will be held at St. Casimir Catholic Church on Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery.
