John M. Barnette, 40, of Niles Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 6:06 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, after an illness. John was born on Oct. 26, 1955, in Mishawaka, to Wayne and Jacquetta Barnette, who both survive. Also surviving is a grandmother, Lorraine Schaffer of Mishawaka; two sisters, Belinda Dalke of Mishawaka and Teena Barnette of Goshen, Ind; two brothers, Michael Barnette of Mishawaka and Gary Barnette of South Bend; and three nieces and one nephew.

Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., today, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

John was a member of First Baptist Church, Mishawaka, and the National Federation of the Blind.
