OSCEOLA - Services for Nellie L. Barnes, 86, of Rosewood Terrace Nursing Home, Elkhart, formerly of Osceola, who died at 5:46 p.m. Monday in the nursing home, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Warner Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Society of Osceola United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Barnes retired in 1971 after 15 years with G.L. Perry in Elkhart. She also formerly worked at Uniroyal in Mishawaka. She was born May 16, 1909, in Palding County, Ohio.

On Nov. 9, 1929, in Mishawaka, as Nellie L. Bice, she married Harry V. Barnes. He died July 1993. Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Bemiller of Elkhart; a son, James L. of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Galbreath of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Donald and Carl Bice, both of Mishawaka. A daughter, Janis S. Barnes-Houghton died in March 1995. She was a member of the church and the Women's Society of the church. She was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.
