Delbert Herbert ''Barney'' Barnes, 89, died at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on Jan. 15, 1909 in Milford, Ind., to James and Effie Barnes.

On Nov. 29, 1933, in North Webster, Ind., he married Martha Louise Daniels, she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Daniel J. (Sandra) Barnes of South Bend and Lester (Patricia) Barnes of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters-in-law, Iris D. Barnes of Orange County, Calif., and Jean Barnes of Zionsville, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, Lisa Gutel of Huntington Beach, Calif., Dee Dee Frauman of Lancaster, Pa., Dan and Scott Barnes both of South Bend, Sarah Barnes of Chicago, Kate, Mollie, Zachary and Sam Barnes of Zionsville, Dennis, Tim and Matt Barnes of Indianapolis; and by six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Doug Barnes in 1992 and Dr. David Barnes in 1996.

Graveside services were held on Saturday in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
