Frank A. Barna, 64, of 2421 Miamai, died at 5:45
a.m. today in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was a mechanical engineer at Uniroyal, Inc., Mishawaka. He
was born on April 4, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area
resident. On November 21, 1940, in South Bend, he married
Elsie VanDeVeire, who survives. Also surviving are three
daughters, Mrs. John (Marcia) Reed of Cassopolis, Mrs. Bob
(Chris) Wallace of South Bend, and Mrs. Frances Ann Barna of Warsaw;
three sons, Kenneth and William, both of South Bend, and David of
Dyer, Ind.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Righter
of South Bend; and his mother, Mrs. Margaret Barna of South Bend.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St.
Matthew Cathedral, with Most Rev. Joseph Crowley, rector,
officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends
may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Thursday in the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home where the
rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He was a
member of the Holy Name Society of St. Matthew's, the American
Institute of Professional Engineers and the Uniroyal Management
Club. Memorial contributions may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
