Ernest A. Barna (March 20, 1926 - July 6,
2001)
Ernest A. Barna, 75, of Allen Park, Mich.,
formerly of South Bend, Ind., died Friday, July 6, in Rapid City,
S.D., after being gored by a bull buffalo at Custer State Park on
July 5th.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen
Franklin Barna, formerly of South Bend; a son, Ernest A. Barna II
of Livonia, Mich.; two daughters, Andrea (James) Herbolshimer of Cleveland,
Ohio, and Jody (Scott) Gelbaugh of Plainwell, Mich.; five
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, John Barna
of South Bend; and a sister, Dewann Drout Langdon of Park Ridge, Ill.
He was a World War II U.S. Marine, seeing
combat at Tarawa and Saipan, receiving the Purple Heart at Saipan.
He retired from the Ford Motor Company of Dearborn, Mich.,
working in the styling department. He was a member of the Good
Shepherd United Methodist Church of Dearborn.
The Howe Peterson Funeral Home, Dearborn, is
handling services.
