SOUTH BEND - Ella Barkovich, 81, of San Diego, Calif., formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on April 24, 1997, in Torrey Pines Convalescent Hospital, San Diego.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1915, in South Bend.

On April 25, 1936, in South Bend, as Ella Bagarus, she married Rudolph Barkovich, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Patti Boren of San Diego; three grandchildren, David and Aaron Miller, both of San Diego, and Blake Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Zwierzynski of Mishawaka, Ind., and Julie Dobrzykowski of South Bend; and by three brothers, Louis, Julius and Richard Bagarus, all of South Bend.

Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call one-half hour before the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Zahoran Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
