Beulah (Terney) Barker, 88, of North Huey Street in South Bend, Ind., passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, in the Cardinal Health Care Center, South Bend. Mrs. Barker was born on Dec. 20, 1913, in Hunt City, Ill., to the late Edward and Laura (Roberts) Turnipseed, and had lived in South Bend since 1941.
In 1942 she married William Joseph Barker, who preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 1982. Mrs. Barker was a registered nurse with the former Bendix Corporation for 22 years, retiring in 1975. She is survived by a daughter, Ann (Fred) Foster of Galesburg, Ill.; a son, Robert W. Barker of South Bend; grandchildren, Don, Jennifer, Keith and Mindy; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brandon; and by sisters, Zelma Lewis of Olney, Ill., and Artella Frichtl of Bella Vista, Ark.
Mrs. Barker was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ladies of the Moose #58 for over 40 years, graduated from Memorial School of Nursing in 1944, and was an avid Cubs fan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1520 Vassar Avenue, South Bend, IN 46628.
