Mary "Kate" Barden, 70, of
Dogwood Road, Mishawaka, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 31, in her
residence after an illness. Kate was born on April 29, 1933, in
Fulton County, Ind., as the daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Simonin)
Stingley.
On Oct. 5, 1952, in Kewanna, Ind., as Mary
"Kate" Stingley, she married Richard E. Barden,
who survives along with three daughters, Ruth Nelson of
Elkhart, Donna Barden of Elkhart and Nancy (Curtis) Fritz
of Mishawaka; two sons, Edward (Nancy) Barden of Osceola and
Michael (Debra) Barden of Elkhart; eight grandchildren,
Christopher Nelson, Jennifer Slabaugh, Sissy Fritz,
Lisa Heckman, Lucas and Brittney Fritz, Dakota Barden and
Nichcole Barden; four great- grandchildren, Dillon Bailey,
Audrey Overmyer and Taylor and Nicole Slabaugh; and four
sisters, Opal (Vern) Kissinger of Royal Center, Ind.,
Thelma (James) Cook of Kimmell, Ind., Pat (Charles) Greer
of Rochester, Ind., and Alice (Richard) Webb of Mentone,
Ind. Kate was an instructional aide for Penn Harris Madison
School Corporation, working at Elm Road School for 15 years and
retiring in 1995. She was a member of Coalbush United Methodist
Church, Mishawaka. She was a loving mother and grandmother who
will be missed.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday,
Jan. 4, 2003, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka,
and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Funeral
services will be held on Monday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. in Coalbush
United Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. James Davidson officiating.
Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial
contributions in Kate's name may be made to Coalbush United
Church, 15977 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
