SOUTH BEND - Russell E. Barber, 85, residing in South Bend,
passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Providence House, South
Bend. He was born September 24, 1924 in Muncie, Indiana, the son
of Russell E. & Mabel (Gilbert) Barber, and has lived in
South Bend since 1952, coming from Richmond, IN. On June 21, 1953
in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Beverly Jackson. She
passed away March 26, 1991. He was also preceded in death by his
half sister, Sharon Ann Williams in 2006. Mr. Barber retired in
1983 from the Bendix Corp. where he worked as a tool & die
maker following 38 years of employment. He was also the founder
and owner of Sunset Trailer Village in South Bend. Russell was a
member of Centre Township Volunteer Fire Dept., St. Joseph County
Civil Defense-Weather Watch, the Hoosier "A" Ford Club,
Pioneer Automobile Association, and was a CB radio operator with
the handle, "Sundown". Mr. Barber is survived by his
two daughters, Lyn Gorski of South Bend, Myra (Victor) Rabadi of
Naples, FL, three grandchildren, Ryan Gorksi, Christina
"Tina" Gorski, and Allan Gorski. Also surviving are six
great-grandchildren, Samantha, Jenna, Brandon, Rozilyn, Terron,
and Tianna, and many nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2:00
p.m. Sunday, March 21, at Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel,
3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where the family will
receive friends from 5:00 - 8 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Michael
Jenkins, pastor of Maple Grove United Methodist Church will
