MISHAWAKA - A memorial service for Carolyn Jean Barbera, 53,  will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Cobb Funeral Home, 3525 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Carolyn Barbera of Ardennes Avenue, Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 6, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was 53 years old.

Born Carolyn Jean Marshall on September 6, 1954, in Evansville, IN, she had been an area resident for more than 20 years and was most recently employed with A.J. Wright. She was wed to Phillip Barbera on November 28, 1988, in South Bend. A devoted wife and mother, Carolyn is survived by her husband, Phillip; and sons, Joey (Tara) Marshall, David and John Barbera. Her mother, Rose Schlageter, and father, Earl Marshall, also survive, along with brothers, Earl Stambush and Dennis Ray Marshall; and sisters, Terry Steinmetz, Donna Hunt, Toni Waltz and Tori Minnick, all of Evansville, IN. She also leaves many extended family members who will miss and cherish her memory. I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
