Mr. Arthur Bankston, beloved
grandfather, who resided on East LaSalle Street, formerly of East
Cedar Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at the age of 94 at
3:54 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in the Cardinal Nursing and
Rehabilitation Center. On April 18, 1907, he was born in Decatur,
Ga.
In Decatur, in 1924, he and Ossie Warbington
were united in wedlock. Coming from Decatur, they moved to South
Bend in 1940. Ossie preceded him in death in 1990. He was also
preceded in death by his parents; a son, Leo Warbington Sr.; and
by a grandson, Leo Warbington Jr. Mr. Bankston retired from the
Studebaker Corporation after working as a foreman. He was also a
member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. Family members left to cherish
his memory include seven granddaughters, Carmen Warbington and
Sherri Jones, both of Nashville, Tenn., Lisa Jones of
Memphis, Tenn., Barbara Jones and Joan Jones, both of Sydney,
Ohio, Brenda Wardlow of South Bend and Peaches Ward
of Rosedale, N.Y.; and four grandsons, Patrick Warbington and
Dewan Warbington, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Robert Jones and
Thomas Jones, both of South Bend; along with other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Bankston will be
held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, in Alford's Mortuary. Interment
will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 10
a.m. Tuesday in ALFORD'S MORTUARY where arrangements have been
entrusted.
