SOUTH BEND - Thomas M. Banicki Sr., 38, of South Bend, IN,
passed away at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, in Hospice House.
Thomas was born on Sept. 6, 1969, in South Bend, IN. He had been
employed as a mechanic at Ron's Marathon for 10 years.
On April 28, 1990, in South Bend, he married
Alma Jo Lucas, who survives. Also surviving are his
children, Amanda Jo Banicki, who is currently a student at the
University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Jessica
Alexander-Banicki of South Bend, IN; his son, Thomas M. Banicki
Jr. of South Bend, IN; one grandson, Jason Reed; his
parents, Frank and Jan (Mezykowski) Banicki of South Bend,
IN; three sisters, Sharon Banicki of South Bend, IN, Barbara
(Rob) Van DeGenahte of Mishawaka, IN, and Ann (J.P.) Fockler
of Walkerton, IN; four brothers, John (Margaret) Banicki of
Mishawaka, IN, David (Angie) Banicki of Lapaz, IN, Ron (Kim)
Banicki of Mishawaka, IN, and Dan (Kristie) Banicki of South
Bend, IN; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Lue
Lucas of South Bend, IN; his sisters-in-law, Deena (Kirk) Buda
of Dowagiac, MI, and Trish Shudick of South Bend, IN; his
brothers-in-law, Jim (Terry) Lucas of Kokomo, IN, and Derrick
Lucas of South Bend, IN; 24 nieces and nephews, and two
great-nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in St. Adalbert Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. Thomas was a disabled Army veteran. He was an assistant coach for Challenger Little League. He enjoyed camping, Notre Dame football and NASCAR.
