Irvin S. Banicki, 74, of Edison Road,
South Bend, died at 5:17 p.m., Tuesday, in St. Joseph's Medical
Center, South Bend, after a brief illness. Mr. Banicki was born
on April 16, 1922, in South Bend and was a lifelong area
resident.
On Oct. 9, 1946, in South Bend, he married
the former Loretta Saboski, who survives. He is also survived by
a daughter, Peggy Rowland of Elkhart, Ind.; five grandchildren,
Mike, Jason, Jonathon, Justin and Jenna; two sisters, Evelyn Carlson
of South Bend and Janine Squadroni of Mishawaka; and a
brother, Eugene Banicki of South Bend.
Mr. Banicki was a member of Bowlers Country
Club, the American Legion Post 357, P.N.A. and St. Casimir's
Church. He was also a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Banicki was
a former owner of Dunham Inn and was previously employed by the
Studebaker Corporation.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday,
in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend.
Services will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m., in the Kaniewski
Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph
Cemetery, with military services being conducted by the American
Legion Post 357.
