In loving memory of my mother, Clara T. Banicki, 84, of the Countryside Place Nursing Home, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Lupine Lane in Granger, Ind., who passed away on Monday, Nov. 2, in St. Joseph's Community Hospital. She was born on Aug. 11, 1914, in Bronson, Mich., to Martin and Nancy (Karczewski) Lukaszewski. Mrs. Banicki was retired as a cook with the St. Adalbert Heritage Center.
On June 23, 1933, in South Bend, Ind., as Clara T. Lukaszewski, she married Steven Banicki, who preceded her in death on April 3, 1966. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Gerald) Nijak of Granger; three grandchildren, Karl (Dawn) Nijak of Columbus, Ohio, Kurt (Shari) Nijak of Granger and Janine Nijak of Mishawaka; five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Courtney, Steven, Stephanie and Nicholas; and by three sisters, Annette Goralski, Theresa Botka and Alice Lewandowski, all of South Bend.
Mrs. Banicki was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and the Sisters Auxiliary of the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with Rev. Daryl Rybicki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m.
