Helen Banaszak

Helen "Rita" Banaszak, 79, formerly of Tulip Road, New Carlisle, Ind., died on Friday afternoon, March 23, in the Hamilton Grove Retirement Community. She was born Dec. 31, 1921, in Loogootee, Ind., and was the daughter of George and Annie (Stuckey) Moran. Mrs. Banaszak retired from Easy Heat in New Carlisle.

As Helen Moran, she married Peter Banaszak, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, David, who died on June 15, 1992; and by a brother, Herbert Wood.

She is survived by a son, James G. Banaszak of New Carlisle; four grandchildren, Nathan Banaszak of New Carlisle, Bryce Banaszak of Ramrod Key, Fla., Christopher Banaszak and Katee Banaszak, both of Tampa, Fla.; and one sister, Margie Hands of Spencer, Ind.

There will be no visitation. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mrs. Banaszak was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and Polish National Alliance #3078. The ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
