Helen R. Banacki

SOUTH BEND - Helen R. Banacki, 92, of Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal, died at 12:05 a.m. today in the nursing home. Mrs. Banacki retired from the University of Notre Dame. She was born Aug. 30, 1902, in Poland, and lived in South Bend for over 50 years. On July 15, 1922, in South Bend, as Helen Goralczyk, she married Leo F. Banacki. He died in 1960. She is survived by a son, Sylvester of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille Cichowicz and Angela Smogor, both of South Bend; and three brothers, Tony Goralczyk, Stanley Goralczyk and Frank Goralczyk, all of South Bend. A son, Leo Jr., preceded in death.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday until the services in the funeral home.
