John Bamber, Sr.

John
Bamber, Sr., 85, of East Wall Street, South Bend, Ind., died at
5:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 3, in Regency Place of South Bend.
John
was born on July 23, 1913, in South Bend, Ind., to Rose (Cameron)
and Joseph Bamber, who both preceded him in death. On August 19,
1939, John married Palmina Colella, who preceded him in
death on Jan. 28, 1997. He was also preceded in death by a
brother, James.
John
retired in 1975 from Bamber's Superette Food Market in South
Bend, which he founded in 1950.
John
is survived by two sons, John Bamber, Jr., and Eugene Joseph
Bamber, both of South Bend; a daughter, Nancy Ann Hague of
Carmel, Ind.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and
by two brothers, Louis Bamber and Bill Bamber, both of South
Bend.
Funeral
services for John Bamber, Sr., will be held at 9:30 a.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home,
3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Burial will take place at
Highland Cemetery.
Visitation
for John Bamber, Sr., will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the
funeral home.
The
family asks that memorial donations be made in the name of John
and Palmina Bamber to the Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center
Coronary Care Unit.
