April 24, 1911 - April 10, 1999

Irene C. Balsley, 87, of Chippewa Avenue passed away a 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Irene will be remembered as a wonderful mother and a very loving grandmother who was always there when we needed her. She will be missed very dearly.

She retired from the U.A.W. Local 5 and also had been employed by the Studebaker Corporation and Wyman's Department Store.

Irene was born on April 24, 1911 in Bellvue, Ohio to Louis and Katherine Szigeti, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ann Szigeti; and by a brother, Joseph Szigeti.

She is survived by a daughter Betty (Joseph) Buti of Niles, Mich.; two sons, Gordon Balsley of Cassopolis, Mich. and Frank Lako, Jr. of South Bend; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and by a sister, Helen Szigeti of LaMirada, Calif.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Hungary Church Repair Fund.
