Ryan A. Balmer
April 13, 1974 - June 5, 2007
MISHAWAKA - TSgt. Ryan A. Balmer, 33, died on June 5,
2007, in Kirkuk, Iraq, while serving his country. Ryan was born
on April 13, 1974, in Mishawaka, to Roger and Patricia (Whybrew)
Balmer. His father preceded him in death in January 1980. Ryan
graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1992. He joined the U.S.
Air Force in 1993, and proudly served for 14 years. Ryan was most
recently stationed at Hill AFB in Utah, deployed to Iraq. In
1993, after basic training, he joined the Security Police Unit in
1997. He completed his C-5 Aircraft Loadmaster training. In 1998
he finished his Airman Leadership training. In June 2005 he
graduated from the United States Air Force Special Investigations
Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Academy, which was the
goal he set for himself. In September 1997 Ryan married Danielle
Daniels. Ryan is survived by his wife, Danielle, and their three
children, Josh, Anthony and Gabby. Ryan is also survived by his
mother, Patricia; and his eight siblings, Sherri Balmer, Mark
Balmer, Rick (Paula) Balmer, Mike (Carol) Balmer, Lori (Bryan)
Rayl, Ron (Lori) Balmer, Amy (Tim) Woodruff and Thomas Balmer. He
also has many other family members who survive. Friends may call
from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 13th, in the Clay United
Methodist Church, 17646 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Funeral
services for Ryan will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday,
June 14th. Burial is to follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
Bubb Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. Memorial
contribution envelopes will be available during visitation.
