MISHAWAKA - Carol Balentine, 63, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 4
in her home of natural causes. She was born on August 30, 1946 in
Bremen to the late Donald and Madeline (Darscheid) Kauffman. She
grew up at Lake of the Woods, and married Fred "R.T."
Balentine, who preceded her in death in 1989. She was a bus
driver for 18 years for Elkhart Community Schools, and was a 1963
graduate of Bremen High School. Carol loved to read, enjoyed
spending time with family and friends and deeply enjoyed
vacations in Flagler Beach, Florida. She is survived by her
companion of 15 years, John Aller Sr. of Mishawaka; daughter,
Angie (Aaron) Mason of Osceola; son, Michael Kauffman of
Mishawaka; stepchildren, Jimmy (Barbara) Hill of Taylor, MI,
Vicki (Ken) Hazelton, of Mishawaka, John (Marsha) Aller Jr. of
Mishawaka, and Steven Aller of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Jeanne
Aller of Goshen; brothers, Dick (Rita) Kauffman, Kenosha, WI, Bob
(Cathy) of Chicago, IL, and Keith (Marcy) of New Carlisle;
sisters, Susan (Knute) O'Connor, Fort Myers, FL and Kathy (Dave)
Snyder of Grand Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Laura and Andrew
Mason, Codi Eighmie, Jim Hill Jr., and Michelle Craig; and three
great-grandchildren. A Memorial Celebration of Life Gathering
will be held on Saturday July 17, from 2 to 6 p.m. in the home of
John Aller Sr., Carol's companion, in Mishawaka. Burial will be
held privately. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made
to Hannah's House or Southern Care Hospice. The Elkhart Cremation
Service has been entrusted with the arrangements. Online
