Walter Robert Baldridge, 93, a longtime resident of South Bend, Ind., died at 7:50 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, at Valley View Health Care in Elkhart, Ind. Walter was born in Blue Ridge Mountains, Kentucky, on May 26, 1905, to Albert and Elizabeth Baldridge, who preceded him in death. He lived in South Bend for over seventy years. He worked as a general laborer for Studebaker's for 44 years until he retired.
On Oct. 26, 1924, he married Berneice Zerbe, who preceded him in death on May 14, 1994. He is survived by a daughter, JoAnn Deller of Boulder, Colo.; and by a son, Donald W. (Nancy) Baldridge of Elkhart. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the River Park United Methodist Church and Portage Lodge 675 F. & A.M.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22, at the Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, at the funeral home, with Pastor Phil Abram officiating. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
