Libero A. Baldoni

Oct. 15, 1918 - Oct. 12, 2000

Mishawaka - Libero A. "Lab" Baldoni, 81, of S. Spring Street, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, in his residence.

Mr. Baldoni retired in 1980 from the United States Postal Service where he served as Postmaster in Mishawaka. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the V.F.W. #360, the DeAmici Club, and St. Bavo Church. He was born on Oct. 15, 1918, in Mishawaka, to Biagio and Pia Baldoni. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1938. On July 24, 1943, in Camp Haan, Riverside, Calif., he married Lucille Nowak, who survives. Mr. Baldoni was very active in the Democratic Party, serving as Mishawaka City Chairman for six years.

Also surviving are two sons, Judge Paul (Deborah) Baldoni of LaPorte, Ind., and Mitchell (Debra) Baldoni of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Jimita (Phillip) Potter and Mary (Craig) Nowicki, both of Granger, and Barbara Baldoni (Geoffrey Gavett) of Olney, Md.; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas Baldoni, Elizabeth Baldoni, Vanessa Baldoni, Anthony Baldoni, Chelsea Baldoni, Jackie Potter, Julia Potter, Annie Gavett, William Gavett, Joseph Nowicki, Eric Nowicki and Cole Nowicki; and by a brother, Louis (Elsie) Baldoni of Mishawaka.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Family and friends called from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a wake service was conducted at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Bavo 2000 Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.

The Zahoran Funeral Home handled the arrangements for the Baldoni Family.
