Edward Baldoni

MISHAWAKA - Edward Baldoni, 81, of 11th Street, died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Mr. Baldoni retired in 1959 from the Mishawaka Police Department as assistant police chief, was employed by Drewrys Ltd., South Bend, in sales, and was a former court bailiff for St. Joseph County Superior Court, South Bend. He was born Feb. 12, 1914, in Logansport, Ind., and lived in Mishawaka most of his life. In 1937, in Crown Point, Ind., he married Josephine Joos. She survives with a daughter, Clarice A. Ruppe of Mishawaka; a son, Anthony J. of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Angie Mercantini, Bina Garatoni, Louise Scheibelhut and Carla Baldoni, all of Mishawaka. He was past president of DeAmici Club and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, where a wake will be at 5:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
